About Us

Vintage Tyres was formed in 1962, initially to maintain supply of Dunlop tyres for vintage and veteran cars and motor cycles. Over the past 50 years other manufacturers have been approached, and the range of tyres now available has grown significantly. More recently, completely new tyres have been developed using the very latest technology and materials bringing much greater levels of performance, whilst retaining the appropriate look & feel for the period and vehicle.

We have also developed our own brands ...Ensign, a quality tyre offering availability of appropriate sizes and patterns for many older motorcycles. There's also the economically priced Waymaster for cars, for drivers who are looking for real value for money without losing quality.

Today, Vintage Tyres are based on The National Motor Museum site in Beaulieu, in many ways the spiritual home of classic motoring, where we stock nearly 20,000 tyres for two, three and four wheeled vehicles. We now service a global market with authentic products from the dawn of motoring right through to 1980's 'supercars'. With years of experience and invaluable expertise Vintage Tyres are now the world's largest supplier of original equipment tyres for vintage and veteran classics.

Chris Marchant

Chris Marchant
Managing Director
chris@vintagetyres.com

Carries the responsibilities of the ship's captain with good grace and humour ...and regularly can be found unloading containers of tyres in the warehouse.

10 years with Weller Wheels and now over 20 years with Vintage Tyres. Chris knows the classic car business, from the road up. In his garage is a Ford "Lotus" Anglia and he has just spent 4 years restoring a Cosworth engined Ford Cortina. Loves old Ford because they're like Meccano sets, everything is interchangeable! Also owns a '79 Porsche 911 and a growing collection of old motorcycles. Absolute favourite bike is a 1976 Honda XL250 and he rides it to work as often as possible. Well that's what he says, anyway!

Chris says
Never sell anything if you don’t have to ...it’ll be worth a fortune one day (not sure that his wife, Sandra, would agree).

Neil McIntosh

Neil McIntosh

neil@vintagetyres.com

Neil is a very ‘hands-on' manager ...involved in all aspects of the business and making sure that it runs like a well-oiled machine

More than 20 years with Vintage Tyres, he is a keen biker who regularly rides his Suzuki Bandit. He was in the Royal Navy for 10 years, but even so still enjoys traveling!

Neil says
Don't try and save on tubes when buying new tyres!

Andy Vine

Andy Vine
UK Sales

andy@vintagetyres.com

An absolute motorcycle boffin Andy brings a wealth of experience. A big Kawasaki fan, he's heavily into bits for old bikes, indeed, he once flew to America simply to find old parts! Over 20 years service with Vintage Tyres he previously worked for a motorcycle dealer. Andy recently became a grandad for the first time but that doesn't stop him and his wife, Tina, traveling around Europe in their VW camper.

Andy says
The best deal is not always the first!

Charlie Bateman

Charlie Bateman
UK Sales

charlie@vintagetyres.com

Drives a '71 VW Camper on a daily basis ...he's been a VW fan since his first car, a Mk1 Golf. The Camper engine has now been out so many times it's been fitted with wing nuts! Plays guitar in 3-piece Folk Indy band 'Thinker' and spends most weekends traveling the country with the band ...that's if he's if not at a show or exhibition.

Charlie says
Looking for a specific classic? It's worth joining the owner's club. A club can help you learn more about the marque and even find a car as members usually advertise their cars for sale in the club magazine or on its website.

David Thomson

David Thomson
Export Sales

david@vintagetyres.com

Drives a T4 VW which he ambitiously, but very successfully, converted into a camper himself. Very into hot rods, drag racing and surfing. Speaks fluent French and recently came back from a 2 month round the world trip (meeting new customers?). Enjoys playing hockey and would die for a new Golf R. Dave knows quality has its price, that's why he's saving for a Bugatti Veyron.

David says
If you're planning a DIY respray, remember 3 key things: preparation, preparation, preparation. In fact, of the task, painting is around 25%, flatting/polishing is 10% and preparation is at least 65%!

Muriel Colange-Hill

Muriel Colange-Hill

Paul Town

Paul Town
Tyre fitting technician and warehouse operations

paul@vintagetyres.com

A Ford fan through and through (that 'blue oval' again! Henry would be pleased), he drives a 2.8 Capri and manages our tyre fitment bay so contact him for appointments. Soon to be married to Becky, he enjoys touring car racing and would love to drive one ...please? very soon!

Paul says:
Looking for classics? The trick is, you can't be a snob. You've got to be open to the 'unusual' that comes with an interesting story.

Scott Rushen

Scott Rushen
Warehouse trainee

Successfully tackles all tasks and challenges with real enthusiasm!

A real fan of scooters - Scott owns an early Vespa, and several old Fords (more blue oval!) - including a Mk1 Escort as his daily transport plus another as a project. He's developed a reputation as a rather mad inventor and has been seen riding a 'recumbent' cycle made from his Mum's ironing board!

Scott says:
It's amazing what you can do if you try!

Maria Nelson

Maria Nelson
Secretary, administration and assistant to Chris

maria@vintagetyres.com

Works diligently in the background and will turn her hand to anything, but would prefer to bring in a home-made cake rather than unload tyres! In her spare time, Maria loves to buy and sell antiques and other treasures and is always on the look-out for a bargain. She hopes that her Honda Civic will soon acquire classic status, but in the meantime would be happy to trade it in for a DBS!

Maria says:
Check out Grandad's shed, there may be a classic waiting to be discovered ...maybe, just maybe!
