Volvo 142, 144, 145 & 164 1967 to 1975

Volvo's replacement for the Amazon, the 140 cars, expressed the company's beliefs in strength and safety. It looked indestructrible compared to most other large saloon cars of the time. Big and boxy styling in a selection of body styles, the last digit of the model names indicated the number of doors, with '5' being the estate. Volvo continuously improved the range, with larger engines, fuel injection and more safety features. The 164 was an enlarged executive saloon version of the platform, with a six-cylinder engine and more luxurious appointments.
