Available with a range of tyre options for the L, GL, GLS and LE saloons, the standard fitment was a 155SR13, with the option of wider 175/70HR13 or 165SR13 radial tyres. The GL Estate had the 175/70HR13 as standard, and the GLE, GTE, GTE and Quattro models had a 185/60HR14 on a 14-inch wheel.
The second generation 80 was styled by Giugiaro, and cemented its place in Audi's parts-sharing ranges very well. It also saw the launch of the Quattro platform that went on to work do well for Audi in marketing and sporting terms.
