A bigger brother for the Daffodil, the 44 was a much larger small family car, and styled by Michelotti. It gained a Renault 4-cylinder to become the 55, then new styling to become the 66. When Volvo took over in 1975 it became the Volvo 66! All models still had the Variomatic CVT and a loyal following for its saloons, coupes and estates. The Marathon upgrade kit became a mainstream model due to its popularity, and made a capable speedy little car!
