Delage's luxury 6-cylinder model, the D6 had a long life both before and after the war. It was a popular model, but not enough to keep the company afloat in the 1930s, it was too expensive and exclusive for that. Produced as a chassis for coachbuilders to build on, it was an elegant machine. It was produced in a large variety of versions, usually denoted by a numerical suffix to the D6 name. The engine capacity changed frequently, as did the state of tune, and the chassis became closely related to the Delehayes of the time when the companies amalgamated in 1935. After the was it was re-released as the 3 Lite (and Olympic performance version). It also had a popular and succesful racing career during this period.
