Putting the Lotus Twin Cam engine (previously seen in both Mk1 and Mk2 Cortinas) into the new, smaller Escort was the beginning of many years of rally and race success. The cars and engines may have developed into new forms, but this is where it started. Very few Twin Cams were built, and it was soon replaced by the RS1600, so it's a unicorn!

The roadcars were fitted as standard with a 165R13 tyre.
