Standard tyre fitment was a 575-16 crossply with the option of a wider 600-16. Suitable radial replacements would be a 600R16, or 165R16.
Something of a UK postwar car landmark, the Vanguard I had modern styling and a strong new engine that went on to power Triumph TRs and many other cars. The 1953 Vanguard II lost the fastback styling, but gained room inside.
