411L - 155SR15 radial
411E - 155SR15 radial, with a 185/70R15 option
411LE and Variant - 165SR15 radial, with a 185/70R15 option
412 LS - 155SR15 radial, with a 185/70R15 option
411LE Variant - 165SR15 radial, with a 185/70R15 option
Although it's possible to be cynical about this extension of the Beetle chassis to make a rear-engined four-seater family car, it actually had a lot of engineering developments inside. It had MacPherson struts for a start. It also gained fuel-injection, and newer, larger engines as well as estate versions. The 412 was a restyled update.
