The base-model Polo Mk1 and Mk2 was fitted with a 135R13 radial tyre as standard. From 1978 the Mk1 had wider optional fitments of 145SR13 and 155/70SR13. These options were carried over to the Mk2 range, as well as a 165/55R13 for the GT Coupe (no longer available) and 175/60R13 for the G40 model.
The Polo was a class-leading supermini, more sensible than its competitors and maybe a bit less fun, but still great. The Mk1 had delicate Bertone styling, and the Mk2 was distinctive, with its "Breadvan" rear end. The later Coupe GT and G40 were a bit more sporty.
