503 & 507
BMW 503 & 507
These two models were special, based on modified 501 and 502 platforms, and with the OHV V8 engine BMW had newly developed. The 503 was a 4 seat coupe and convertible, and the 507 was a beautiful 2 seat roadster. The styling and marketing were squarely aimed at the US market, but the high cost of the cars damaged sales, and nearly broke BMW.
Standard tyre for the 503 was a 600-15, or 640-15 crossply from 1955 to 1958. Cars from 1958 onwards had a 16-inch wheel, and a 600-16 tyre.
