Tyre Diameter: R15 | VW 1500 and 1600 (Type 3) 1961 to 1973
Original fitment for the saloon and Variant models was a 600-15 crossply. As radials became more common in the late 60s, there was the option of a 165SR15 radial, or even a wider 185/70R15.
Essentially an update of the Beetle, with more internal space and room for luggage, along with updated styling. By 1962 there was an estate version, the Variant, and a Fastback with coupe styling in 1965. The 1600 brought with it the option of a bigger engine.
